The author of this HTTYD fantastical stories is a 48 years old London girl who loves writing since she was 9 and has spent most of her childhood on an unknown small island in Scotland, without access to technology. Luckily for her, her father kept telling her stories about Vikings who invaded the island hundreds of years ago and legends about dragons that had nests in caves on the mountain peaks covered by chaos in thunderstorms. How else she would have started her magical stories about dragons with these unique powers and fight fierce Vikings on the island of Berk, unless isolated on a corner of land where her family was fishing most of the day to procure food every day and where the freedom wouldn’t leave room unless for creativity?
“Here’s the thing: today, we spend all the time desperate to entertains as children and to prevent boredom at all costs, but perhaps boredom is good for them. Being bored is perfect to stimulate creativity “. (Cressida Cowell, The Telegraph Magazine)
Cressida attended an art college, followed by licensed graphic design and illustration. Before her famous series dedicated to the adventures of Hiccup, for children almost adults, in 2002, she had written several children’s books for which she received some awards. Obviously, the animation film adaptation made by DreamWorks was a highlight for the Oxford, St Martin and Brighton graduated student . And for How To Train Your Dragon movie fans, we can rest assured that it will be continued.
